Biostatistics

Introduces core statistical concepts and methods for health research, including variable types, descriptive statistics, sampling distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing (one- and two-sample, paired), correlation, simple linear regression, one-way ANOVA, Chi-square tests, and statistical power, with emphasis on applying these techniques to clinical and nursing problems.

Health, Equity, and Social Determinants of Health
NGR6662
Examines how social and economic factors shape health at individual and systems levels, building skills to apply health equity theory, advocate for underserved populations, and design evidence-based interventions that address social determinants to improve outcomes.

Literature Synthesis for Nursing Space
NGR6806
This course develops students' skills in critically appraising and synthesizing literature relevant to their dissertation topics. It offers guidance in dissertation development and scholarly writing. Students will (1) conduct a reproducible, critical literature review; (2) produce a review article suitable for journal submission; and (3) evaluate published studies, identifying methodological strengths and weaknesses.

Mixed Methods and Implementation Science
NGR7816
Familiarizes students with mixed methods research techniques used in the health sciences and within clinical trials. Students will also learn about the discipline of dissemination and implementation science for scholarly inquiry. This course is designed to facilitate the development of knowledge and skills related to implementation science mixed methods research in nursing, medical, and sociobehavioral scholarship.

Theoretical Constructs and Methods of Evidence-Based Nursing Practice

Teaches appraisal and application of theory and research to guide practice change, covering models of practice, formulation of practice questions, literature search and critical appraisal, and synthesis of evidence to develop best-practice recommendations.

MSN Concentration: AI Applications in Health Care
This first-of-its-kind Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a concentration in artificial intelligence recognizes the need to equip future nursing leaders with a thorough understanding of emerging technologies, the program will also tackle the implementation of such technology in a safe and ethical manner.

Subject Matter Research Consultants (SMRC)
IDHI's young adult Subject Matter Research Consultants are part-time FSU employees who provide consultation on research study development, implementation, analysis, and relevant trends for recruitment and dissemination.
Centralizing youth engagement through employment allows IDHI to create and maintain a sustainable group capable of supporting multiple research projects without the need to recruit new advisory boards for each study.
