Interventions and Implementation Science (IIS) Hub

The Institute on Digital Health and Innovation (IDHI) Interventions and Implementation Science (IIS) Hub specializes in designing research studies and pragmatic randomized controlled trials that address organizational priorities and promote evidence-based practices to achieve improved health results across a multitude of domains and communities.

The IIS Hub is led by Dr. Henna Budhwani, Michael and Paula Read Phelan Endowed Professor in Obstetrical Nursing in the Florida State University (FSU) College of Nursing.

Our Mission

The IIS Hub's mission is to enhance health outcomes by developing and testing biobehavioral interventions that engage community partners throughout the scientific process, while concurrently leveraging the rigorous methods of Dissemination and Implementation Science.

Our Work

Within the IIS Hub’s work, there is a focus on the application of frameworks and models that respond to the inner and outer contexts of intervention uptake and evidence-based practice delivery, alongside end-user priorities, including those of patients, providers, and policymakers. When multilevel, contextually tailored interventions are tested using rigorous Dissemination and Implementation Science frameworks and with consideration for bridging and innovation factors, adoption rates often improve, leading to sustained enhancements in health outcomes. The IIS Hub integrates intervention research with Dissemination and Implementation Science to address persistent challenges that affect health and well-being.

A novel feature of the IDHI’s IIS Hub is its utilization and integration of advanced digital health technologies and innovative delivery strategies to expand the reach of evidence-based practices. The IDHI’s IIS Hub collaborates extensively with healthcare providers, hospital systems, community organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure our research addresses real-world challenges and reaches policy and decision makers to inform positive change.

Our Collaborators

The IDHI IIS Hub is affiliated with the Center for Translational Behavioral Science (CTBS), Brain Science and Symptom Management Center (BSSMC), Pepper Institute on Aging and Public Policy, and Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Transnational Workforce Development (TWD) portfolio of programs, including its Dissemination and Implementation Science Core (DISC).
