Joshua Espada
Joshua Espada (they/them) is a Queer Rican, born and raised in New York City. Their healthcare journey started alongside their mother, a phlebotomist, spending afternoons in the clinic. Their diverse experiences have led them through various clinical roles across the US and into humanitarian and research positions in North Africa and the Middle East. As a researcher, they've aided refugee host communities in Amman, Jordan, and collaborated with an NGO partnered with the Egyptian Ministry of Health.
Their adaptable skills have taken them across the globe. However, after the pandemic, they've dedicated themselves to their local community. They currently work as a Case Manager, helping low-income queer New Yorkers navigate the American healthcare system. Additionally, they contribute as a Subject Matter Result Consultant for the ATN, using their expertise with patients to innovate and deepen understanding of the material conditions affecting Black and Brown Adolescents in HIV research.
