Reducing stigma by leveraging human rights and human centered approaches in study design to obtain better health outcomes.
Linking intervention research with implementation science to combat negative structural and individual level barriers to health and well-being.
The Intervention Research and Implementation Science (IRIS) Hub is led by Dr. Henna Budhwani, Professor in the Florida State University College of Nursing. The IRIS Hub's mission is to address public health gaps by improving the well-being of underserved populations through intervention research and the conduct of pragmatic clinical trials that engage community stakeholders throughout the scientific process. The IRIS Hub has a special focus on reducing stigma by leveraging human rights and human centered approaches in study design to obtain better health outcomes. When multilevel, tailored interventions are tested using the rigorous frameworks of implementation science, uptake is often enhanced leading to sustained improvements in health. The IRIS Hub links intervention research with implementation science to combat negative structural and individual level barriers to health and well-being.
Members of the IRIS Hub are affiliated with multiple groups across the Florida State University campus, including the Center for Translational Behavioral Science (CTBS), Center of Population Sciences for Health Equity (C-PSHE), Brain Science and Symptom Management Center (BSSMC), Institute for Digital Health and Innovation (IDHI), and the Pepper Institute on Aging and Public Policy.
