The NURTURe Program
Mission & Goals
Our Mission
The NURTURe Program prepares nurse-trained postdoctoral fellows to become leaders in interdisciplinary research that leverages digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and community-engaged approaches to improve prevention, health management, and patient outcomes across populations.
Through rigorous research training, mentorship, and professional development, fellows gain the expertise needed to design, evaluate, and implement innovative technology-enabled health solutions while advancing nursing science and improving health outcomes.
Program Goals

Deliver Interdisciplinary Training in Digital Health, AI, and Community-Engaged Dissemination & Implementation (CEDI) Science
Provide a comprehensive training curriculum that integrates nursing science, digital health technologies, artificial intelligence, and Community-Engaged Dissemination and Implementation Science (CEDI). Fellows gain foundational and advanced knowledge through coursework, seminars, workshops, and collaborative learning opportunities across disciplines.

Provide Hands-On Research Training Through Mentored Experiences
Prepare fellows to design, test, evaluate, and scale technology-based health interventions through immersive research experiences. Each trainee works with a multidisciplinary mentorship team and contributes to innovative projects addressing critical health challenges through digital health, implementation science, and community-engaged research approaches.

Cultivate Research Leadership and Career Development
Develop the next generation of independent nurse scientists by providing training in grant writing, scientific communication, leadership, mentorship, and professional networking. Fellows gain the skills, experience, and support needed to secure external funding, lead interdisciplinary research teams, disseminate scientific discoveries, and advance impactful careers in academia, healthcare, public health, and policy.
Program Impact
By achieving these objectives, the NURTURe Program will strengthen the nursing research workforce and prepare leaders who can harness digital health technologies, artificial intelligence, and community-engaged approaches to improve health outcomes and transform healthcare delivery.
