Who Is Eligible for the NURTURe Program?

We are primarily seeking postdoctoral scholars with a nursing background, though exceptional candidates from related disciplines may also be considered. Ideal applicants for the NURTURe Program:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree or higher in nursing
  • Have completed a research doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) prior to the start of the fellowship
  • Have an interest in advancing digital health, artificial intelligence, and technology-enhanced healthcare solutions
  • Demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary research, team science, and improving health outcomes
  • Per the NIH Appointee Eligibility requirements, candidates must be enrolled in a research or clinical doctoral or postdoctoral program and must be a U.S. citizen, a noncitizen national of the United States, or have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence at the time of appointment

Remote applicants will be considered, though local presence may be prioritized based on specific research interests and mentor alignment.

How to Apply for the 2026-2027 Academic Year

To apply for the NURTURe Program:

Selection Process

  • Applications for the 2026-2027 academic year are due by September 1, 2026.
  • Our steering committee will review applications, conduct interviews, and select trainees. Candidates will undergo interviews with the steering committee and potential mentors to evaluate their suitability for the program.
  • The selection criteria will focus on the candidates' academic achievements, research potential, and alignment with the program's goals.
  • Once selected, trainees will be matched with primary and secondary mentors based on their research interests and goals.
  • The program for this academic year is slated to begin November 2026.
